Should I get a lawyer

I was charged with selling alcohol; to a minor negligently. I was charged with the same thing about 10 years ago when I first started working at this convenience store I have worked there for 11 years I asked her if she was old enough and she told me yes and nodded her head. I know I have passed many of these stings in the 11 years I have worked there.

It's never a bad idea to speak with an attorney so that you may make a well informed decision on how to proceed. Negligently selling alcohol to a minor is a class b misdemeanor. Fines, jail time, probation are all possible with that level of offense. Most attorneys here offer free consultatuons and will be able to explain all your options moving forward.

In this case, it may be worthwhile to do the following: 1. Attend the arraignment and plead not guilty. 2. See what the offer is to plead guilty, but don't take it. They may tell you that if you don't take it now it will be off the table, which is a risk, but it's also likely blustering by the prosecutor. 3. Request discovery. 4. Meet with an attorney so that you can go over your options. I and other attorneys offer legal consultation and support for DIY legal matters. Let me know if you have any questions!
