My father married my stepmother in 1997, I was 20 years old at that time. She was a green card holder and filed a petition for my father. Can I derive from that petition as a grandfathered child? Does it matter that I was over 18 when they got married?

I agree with my colleague ... you were too old when they got married.

The recommendations of my distinguished colleagues, attorneys Giacomo J. Behar and F. Capriotti has furnished to you is correct. Now you just need to act on it with the help of local immigration counsel. You should not be restricted by geographic factors. Good luck.
