Form I-131 travel document -- for marriage based I-485 package

We are filing marriage based I-130/I-485 package for my husband, he's having a pending asylum case. For part of the package, we also wanted to submit form I-131 travel document. Q1 -- for part 2 application type, we will need to choose item 1d -- advanced parole document, correct? Q2 -- for part 4, item 1a, purpose of the trip. What would be a good humanitarian purpose? Can we say that the applicant (my husband) hasn't seen his mother for 5 years, and he wanted to take his family to celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve with his mother in Singapore and Malaysia? Additional relevant facts that 1) his mother is in his home country, and due to his pending asylum status, he couldn't travel back to his home country; 2) Singapore or Malaysia is not their home country. He would ask his mother travel to Singapore to meet with us. Please advise. Thanks!

Do not file the I-131. Wait until his greencard is approved. Do not file the I-131.

Given that your husband filed for asylum, it would be wise not to seek advance parole (I-131) as part of his I-485 application, whether or not he is going to withdraw his I-589 (or whether he wants to see his mother in a third country). It would open the door for more questions into his asylum claim. As Mr. Capriotti suggested, he should wait until he actually gets the marriage-based green card.
