How do I get an expert medical witness if I am representing myself?

I am bringing a medical malpractice suit because I have been unable to find a lawyer. The two expert medical witnesses I found only work with attorneys. How do I go about finding a expert medical witness who will work with a pro se litigant?

It is hard enough for a lawyer to find experts to testify for plaintiffs because the doctors stick together. There are expert witness services that you can try to use (do a Google search). Be prepared to lay out thousands of dollars just for the initial review and then much more if the case goes to trial. What are the facts of your case?

Just contact a doctor maybe a treating doctor who doesn't testify very much but it will be. Why tough. Most doctors that do testify often only will work with attorneys. Also to hire a doctor for a review and then for trial testimony is very expensive. And if lawyers have told you that you don't have a case maybe they are correct. But the best option would be to contact one more med Mal attorney a last chance.

I think it is possible for you to find a doctor, the problem is paying the doctor, they usually want at least $20,000 to testify as a medical witness. If not attorney would take your case, it may have weaknesses that would not merit such an investment. The doctor may be at fault, but you may not have enough "damages" to collect enough to merit the investment in medical experts.
