What is a good amount to ask for in a small rear end accident from my own insurance for pain and suffering?

Business 4 views 5 answers
So I, the driver, rear ended someone. My wife and 2 kids were in the car. she has received treatment and we have comprehensive insurance. They said she was entitled to a pain and suffering settlement but we have no idea what to ask. We know that usually the "other guys" insurance will offer a low amount to get it off the table quickly. We don't want to be greedy but want to know whats fair. My wife will be treated for a few months and the kids just needed a checkup but were relatively unharmed.

Your wife and children were injured and no lawyer? Enough said.

Your wife and kids need to get an attorney to represent them in this, as there are a lot of factors that go into determining how much of a settlement she would be entitled. The kids could even be entitled to something as well, but to settle a minor's claim requires some special paperwork.

Your family needs to represented by a personal injury attorney. The attorney can beat advise you on the value of the case and a procedure for getting that value from the insurance company. You are likely to recover more money with an attorney than without an attorney - even after paying the tourney.

You don't always need to hire an attorney for every single case as some lawyers wants you to believe. Have you collected medical records from the medical providers? What do the doctors say the status of your wife's and children's health is now compare to how it was prior the accident? How long have they had pain, discomfort, suffered, etc? All these factors and much more will influence your settlement amount. Call some lawyers in your area and receive FREE consultation to get your questions answered in details. Thank you.
