When will my sister be charged or receive citations?

Sister driving while alcohol intoxicated. She was involved in a hit and run accident, but left the seen. Police were called, received a vehicle description and searched and located her driving erratic at high speed. She passed several other cars crossing over the center lane in a No-cross Zone, narrowly missing other drivers, then she crossed over the center lane, with 2 police chasing, light and sirens on, hitting a vehicle head on. The other driver was treated and released at hospital, my sister was treated for minor injures, was admitted for observation and discharged after a day and a half. My sister thinks she just blacked out and rolled her car. She stated she has no idea where her car is, or if its even drivable. This information I received from the local paper, no names have been released.

Based upon what you've posted it certainly seems highly likely that your sister will be charged with several offenses including DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. I strongly urge you to seek out a good criminal defense attorney for further advice. I will re-post so you get additional responses.

Your sister is under investigation for a number of driving offenses & needs to hire an experienced defense attorney to assist her as soon as possible. There is a good chance that the police are awaiting lab test reports & results from the Michigan State Police Crime lab before formal charges are issued. She needs legal help now before the charges are issued so that she can plan ahead for what may be very disruptive to her life. Look for an experienced DUI or OWI defense attorney in her location here on . Best of luck.

Your sister needs to hire legal counsel as soon as possible. The police can take their time in making an arrest depending upon the circumstances of the case. There are a number of issues which may provide your sister with some ability to defend the case described above. Obviously it is a serious investigation. Your sister should hire a capable experienced attorney who handles complicated drunk/drugged driving charges. Based upon your brief description there are a number of serious criminal charges which could be made against your sister. The police can wait to charge your sister and the delay in charging her could help or hinder her defense. That is why you need to contact a lawyer well versed in drunk driving defense.
