Can the prosecutor team bring up new charges against you during a current case?

Okay, so my bf had a domestic violence case with one of his ex's. He had charges of stalking and i dont know how the case ended to be honest or if it did. My bf and I got into an argument about 3 week ago and we haven't spoke since then. When I looked at the nyc.giv site I see that his current case...that theres new charges brought upon him by his ex, and it was added about 3l2 weeks ago of video surveillance for sexual gratification. I need to know if those charges were recent or not. Because his last case with her he bailed himself out. And just recently I saw that he payed off a $3000 bond to not get arrested. What's going on? Is this recent? Is this the same case? Or a new case since he had to bail himself out?

As long as the statute of limitations hasn't run out, the prosecutor can add charges that they become aware of, or upgrade current charges. There are numerous ways to do this. They can lay in additional misdemeanor informations, or if there are felony charges, they can add charges in an indictment.

If it is the same docket number it is part of the same case. If it is a new docket number the summary tab on nycourts.gov will tell you the incident date. The best person to answer your questions is his lawyer.

The prosecutor can always add new charges to an existing case as long as the statute of limitations hasn't run out. Two years on misdemeanors and five years on It's felonies. It's impossible to answer your question based on the limited information here. You can speak to prosecutor handling the case or his attorney.
