How do I file a response to a Justice Court Motion to Dismiss? What is the time frame? Is it necessary to respond?

I received items in a divorce. My ex came and took the items knowing I couldn't afford an attorney. I'm taking him to Justice Court to try and receive monetary reimbursement. I filed, he got a lawyer and filed Motion to Dismiss due to harassment, frivolous, and not in jurisdiction. I still can't afford a lawyer and am afraid I will lose my one shot to be compensated. I can't refile or go back on this due to the Statute of Limitations.

Absolutely respond. Best check th local rules or with the court clerk on when you must serve and file your response

Respond to the motion pursuant to the local rules of the court where the case is pending and explain, as concisely as possible, while your claim is not frivolous, why it is not harrassment etc... You just need to convince the judge that your claim has real merit and that you are not using the court system to somehow "punish" your ex.
