It would appear the police believe there is far more to this story than that you hit a rock. Leaving the scene of an accident is a very serious charge. You need to retain an attorney and review all of the police reports to determine what the police believe happened so that you can establish any available defenses. This also is not lemon law so I am changing it to "Speeding & Traffic Tickets".

I'm in shock too! A rock blew out more than one tire? Were you driving on a cliff?

Definitely a few things missing here. Call an attorney to assist you. Leaving the scene of an accident carries a potential loss of license and a very steep fine.

This is not leaving the scene. But that charge is 6 month suspension and 9 insurance points plus the fine. They will try to get you to plead to failing to report an accident. Use an experienced criminal defense attorney, it will pay off in the long run. The statute does not apply to this situation. My guess is the cop thinks you were DWI and ducking the cops.

You can be charged for anything even murder. The question is are you guilty and for that a lawyer needs to hear your side and the cops side by reading the discovery and police reports. I suggest you hire a good lawyer immediately.
