Some of our friends will think poorly of us if we do sue the hospital, but im afraid it's going to come to this. How can we protect that noone finds out? Is there a way?

If a lawsuit is filed, anything that is filed with the court becomes public records and anyone who is looking for those records can find them. But they have to be looking for it. That is, if you do not tell your "friends" and if they do not go to court or go on court's website, chances are they won't find out-they can of course stumble on your name by accident at any time. Your friends are not likely to find out unless by chance they are told that you have sued. Although any civil filing is a matter of public record, it is not likely that they would find out unless they were looking for this information. Things do have a way of getting around by unexpected circumstances, but you should do what you think it right and not worry yourself too much about who finds out. It would be helpful if you do not discuss it with anyone other than your attorney. Good luck. JOYCE J.
