After a lease is signed can a landlord change his mind about renting to you? And if so how do I go about getting my deposit

I have already signed the lease paid my deposit. I had to wait until move in date to receive my keys. The day came and went with no call from my landlord. I've stopped by and called several times. Can he or she change their mind and if so how do I go about getting my deposit back

If you have a lease signed by both parties, the landlord can change his mind only at his peril. A lease is a contract. Failure to abide by a signed contract is called breach of contract. You can seek to hold the landlord to the deal. If the lease was signed only by you and you have not yet received a copy signed by the landlord, your position is less strong. In that event, look to see whether the deposit check was cashed. I suggest you inform the landlord that you are prepared to hold him to his obligations pursuant to the lease. Please note that I am a New York attorney and cannot advise you as to application of Nevada state law. For that reason, you may wish to consult a local attorney. Good luck to you.
