Does Having relatives in US Or having an immigration petition filed on my behalf weaken my Asylum Claim ?

I am a student under J1 Visa , I have entered US since one month. I am planning to seek religious Asylum based on strong evidence. But I am afraid that having Relatives in US may weaken my Asylum Claim . I have a sister, she's US citizen Both parents are LPR but they are not in US right now, they are in Home country . and other relatives : Uncle , Aunt Also my father who is LPR from only 6 months has filed a petition for me : over 21 year old unmarried son - this category 2B may take 7-9 years to be approved. I am afraid that Having this petition filed on my behalf will weaken the Asylum case? I am From Egypt. And My current J1 Visa doesn't subject to section 212(e) - the 2 year home residency requirement. Thank you

Having family in the US doesn't really hurt an asylum claim. In fact, having people who can sign sworn affidavits (or testify) on your behalf actually helps you. But, I am a little concerned about your LPR parents having returned to your country. Why are they not afraid to return, but you are afraid? Are they the same religion as you? Have you converted to another religion in the US? An asylum officer or immigration judge will want to know why you should be more afraid to return than your parents. The visa petition is not a problem.

Your case is quite complicated and I would recommend consulting an immigration attorney. The fact that both your parents are back in Egypt could be a factor against you. If it is safe for them to return, then why would you risk persecution. The petition by your father would take a long time to be decided since he is not a US citizen and you are over 21. It is best to consult an immigration attorney.
