Will I lost an E2 visa when we are divorced?

1 views 2 answers
We filed a divorce. My husband has a Visa E2, also the whole family. We will have a joint custody for our two children. Will I lost this E2 visa as the dependent of this visa? Or can I stay in the States till the visa date is ending? What is for example, when I fall in love and I will marry him (an US citizen), is there any problems?

You should post this under immigration.

When your divorce is final you will no longer be in E status as you will no longer qualify as a dependent. Thus, upon divorce you should plan to depart the U.S. so that you do not suffer the consequences of remaining in the U.S. without lawful status. If you enter into a new bona fide marriage with a U.S. citizen after your divorce is final, your new spouse may sponsor you for resident status.
