Military harassing a civilian. What can I do to stop it?

2 views 2 answers
A guy in the military has continued to contact me for over a year now (text messages, instant messages sent to my phone, emails, phone calls, and I suspect that he has called me from other numbers or blocked. I made it very clear to never contact me again. When I said I would change my number he laughed and said, "Go ahead, I will even pay for it". When I said I would report him to the police he laughed. I have not replied to anything for eight months to a year now. He is sick and has said very sick things. I just want to move on and live in peace. What can I do to make him stop contacting me? People have said I need to tell the military base here, but I don't know who I should contact. Do I start with local police or the military? If military, what dept? Thank you so much.

You do not say where anyone is actually located. If you are in LV, and the military member is at Nellis, then apply for and obtain a TPO, and (1) have him served, and (2) contact the legal department on base and give them a copy. Until then, keep all evidence relating to all unwanted contacts, including phone, text, and e-mail records, and your "go away" notice. If you are not sure of what to do or how to do it, confer with counsel, but you do not need an attorney to obtain a TPO. Start with: http://www.willicklawgroup.com/domestic_violence.

I have had clients in the past contact the individual's commander and request assistance. Sometimes, commanders will step in and insist that the behavior be stopped by the military personnel. If there are safety issues, I would say a tpo as recommended by Mr. Wilick is your best route. www.thelunalawfirm.com
