dealing with immigration, love one is currently in ice custody for immigration violation, convicted of a crime 12 years ago, i know the time it happen doesn't matter. It is still violation! He was 16 at the time, now 28 and has no other criminal records beside the one they are hold him on. His family all reside in USA, and he is an LPR and has been since the age of 3. I know the answer! GET A LAWYER/ATTORNEY! but what can you do when you can't afford one! I have looked everywhere, and called every possible number I can find and people have given to me. I guess there is not much we can do with no legal or affordable help, but if it falls down to "pro se" then what should we expect to happen at his master calender hearing. THANK YOU!

Look through the paperwork given to your loved one - there should be a list of local no- and low-cost legal providers. If you can at least find a phone number for the local ICE office on the paperwork, call and ask for this.list. You might also try Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC) - they do a lot of this, and might be able to refer you to the right place. See the link.
