I was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon in 2001. i pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault with deadly weapon. why does it still show up as a felony charge on my background check? because of this i was dismissed from the nursing program today. what was the point of reducing my charges if the court system still has it filed as a felony. now i have to take a few step backwards before i can move forward with my career.this really puts a hindrance on my career. what do i have to do for it to show up as a misdemeanor or better yet eliminated from my background? if any one can help in this area please let me know. its not a nice feeling spending all that money for the nursing program then getting kicked out.

Even if your charge was reduced to a misdemeanor, your rap sheet will show a felony arrest. It's almost impossible to get rid of that. For professions requiring a license from the state this can be a problem. You should hire a lawyer to help you fight the nursing board on this one.
