How do I go about viewing police dash cam footage of my traffic stop?

Late last year I was pulled over. The officer said he ran my plate and it said my license was suspended. I asked was it a moving violation. He mistook that as me asking why he ran my plate. He went on to explain saying the plate in public information and belongs to the state. Well when I went to court yesterday, I learned that he had put in the report that he pulled me over because I failed to signal. That is a blatant lie. You can't imagine how I feel. Especially since i have so much respect for law enforcement and am working on a film that depicts policemen in a better light to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. The dash cam footage would prove his report to be a lie because my car will show up in the footage and our dialogue. How can I get that footage? Him doing that to me means he'll do it to someone else. It must be stopped.

What were you charged with? Did you pay the ticket or set up a court date? If the case is still open, you can request audio/video footage from the prosecutor. Be advised that not all police departments or police cars have A/V. You may want to consult an attorney.

If the case is pending you can make a request for discovery. You should consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney in your area for help with this case.

You should be able to request the video through the discovery process (or just ask the prosecutor.) How do you know there's footage? If the case is over (i.e. plead guilty or otherwise) you may be out of luck.
