My child was cut in a department store and now has a scar on her face

My 3 year old daughter ran into a sharp pipe at Dillards department store over the holiday. She received a small cut beside her eye. The manager documented the situation and took photograhs and we've been contacted by the corporate headquarters and offered a $100 gift certificate if we would sign a release. We didn't need to take her to the doctor and the wound did heal with time. However, she is left with a small scar on the side of her eye. Although the wound wasn't major, I do feel slightly upset to see a scar on a young child from negligence. Should I pursue this situation or just sign the release

It is never easy to gauge the value of a potential claim. In your case, it the answer depends on the severity of the scar, the expected medical expenses, and the underlying facts. You can expect that the store, or its insurer, will do everything in their power to run up actual expenses such as depositions, discovery, etc. These expenses usually reduce your recovery, and the expenses need to be considered in a case like this.
