How to write a legal confession letter?
Anonymous3 views2 answers
I wish to write a confession letter which will be notarised. What are the main points to cover in writing such a letter which will admit a crime of threatening suffering and harm on another unless that party signed a plea bargain with the state, and that this parties lawyer would be contacted and directed to force this signing to be done?
You should contact a lawyer about this. However good your intentions are you should have a professional evaluate the exposure to yourself in terms of criminal charges you may face. Once reduced to writing there is no guarantee it will have any effect on the other persons case, and could open you up to criminal liability.
I strongly urge you retain counsel to advise you in this situation.

If you are trying to write a letter to indicate that you are the party admitting the crime, you would include the date written and the dates, locations and nature of the offenses you wished to confess to. Be aware that there may be consequences beyond the penalties of the crimes you are confessing if you previously obstructed justice. It would be best to consult with an attorney to help you understand your rights and preserve them during this process before you begin writing.
If you are trying to write a confession for someone else to sign, be aware that unless the confession is substantially in his/her own words and otherwise clear and comprehensible to the person signing, a "ghostwritten" confession is more likely to be thrown out or otherwise deemed inadmissible if it is later challenged.
