Am I allowed to dumpster dive in okc?

I'm hoping to make some good finds, but I don't want to get stopped by an officer, much less actually commit a felony or something. Is it legal, and if so, can I still legally be stopped, or can I continue.

In general, property thrown in the trash is abandoned, and so, in general, it’s up for grabs. But dumpsters and the property on which they are located are private property. Accessing them without the owner’s permission would be considered trespass. If you are asked to leave and don’t, or if there is a sign that says “No Trespassing,” “Keep Out,” “Restricted Property,” or something similar and you enter anyway, you could be convicted of criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. Let common sense be your guide: Ask permission first and accept “no” for an answer, and when the answer is “yes,” you are free to dive for treasure to your heart’s content.
