How to fight a speeding ticket.

Business 5 views 1 answers
i was on my way to work on highway 101.( this highway has only 2 lanes) First lane had lots on large trucks driving past, in front of me was a station wagon going about 65 mph. The station wagon, keeps swerving very closely to the trucks in the first lane, at one point one even honks.the wagon continues driving frantically, swaying between the first lane of cars and the breakdown lane on the right. So i stay a bit back until there is enough room to pass this car. I pass speeding to get around them ( I didnt want to get involved in a accident cause this car cant drive) then get into the first lane and drive on my way( no longer speeding) well a few minutes later i notice a state trooper pulling me over.He said he clocked me@83. i stated why, and still got a ticket. this isnt my fault?

The best way to fight any speeding ticket is to attack the equipment that was used to determine your speed. Find an attorney who specializes in traffic law in the jurisdiction in which you got the ticket. S/he will know all of the problems associated with the sort of equipment used in that area. As far as the reasons for your alleged speeding, the police will say that the limit was clearly posted, and it was your choice to go above that limit. I hope that you did not actually tell the police officer that you were speeding and that you had a reason for doing so. If you did, that admission of guilt can be used against you. It is never a good idea to try to explain your behavior to a police officer. You will need to weigh any potential penalty against the cost of hiring an attorney. Without an attack on the equipment used to determine your speed, that 83 mph will be considered accurate. In the District of Columbia, going 5 mph over the speed limit is an infraction that will get you a ticket. If you are going more than 30 mph over the speed limit in DC, you will face criminal charges and jail time. You do not state what the speed limit on that stretch of road was, so it is impossible to tell what penalty you are facing.
