How do I prove that my maiden name and my married name are both me?

3 views 1 answers
I just bought my ex-husband out of the marital residence. The deed is now in my name, but it's in my maiden name because we originally bought the house before we were married. The tax accessors office in my town will not give me the tax deduction I am entitled to because I have no proof that me, as my maiden name, resides at that residence. My driver's license and utility bills are all in my married name.

A good place to start is to obtain a cerfified copy of your marriage license and provide that as the proof the government office needs. Putting that document together with the driver license you have from the state may be just the kind of evidence that tax accessor's office needs. As to the tax deduction you mention, there is insufficient further information provided in your post to make any informed response. Good luck to you.
