Requested evacuation by 08/01/18 giving aprox 50 days to exit. Tenant has no signed lease at this time an states he will leave the end of August sometime. Is the 30 day written letter efficient enough or do I now have to send a notice to quit? Renee

Generally its better to use the SCAO landlord tenant forms but if the letter you sent had all of the required information it could be considered a 30 day notice to quit. Without reviewing the letter there is no way for any attorney here on to tell.

If you are the party seeking the termination, you must provide the required legal notice. Do not rely on a letter from either party to satisfy the legal requirements. Good luck.
