Child's father ignored me my entire pregnancy. I am afraid to ask for child support because he's threatened custody.

I am 35 weeks pregnant. My child's father walked out on me. He has ignored me the entire pregnancy. He met a girl and is now "engaged" they both deny my baby. I am afraid to ask for child support because he's very conniving and selfish, serious anger issues. I know if I ask for child support, he will do something dramatic and threaten. What can I do? He denies the baby but when child support is mentioned he wants custody

If you request support you would also request custody. Unless he is somehow legally unfit he is going to get at a minimum time with the child even if you are granted physical and legal custody. I would not recommend just requesting child support and leaving custody as an open issue.
