What is the statute of limitations in NJ for collecting my security deposit through the court system?

I was cleaning out my old papers from a residence in NJ and saw a discrepancy. The landlord not only sent me all my papers over the 30 day guidelines, they also sent me an incorrect assessment of damages form. Their math is off and they owe me money. They put down the wrong amount for my deposit, charged me for things they shouldn't of and other discrepancies. I am living in MD now and the at the time I just wanted to leave. The landlord was horrible and not sensitive to my son' s autism. I feel stuck now because I should have looked at everything closely than trying to leave the past behind. I moved back in 10/06
