I was working and I drove a forklift I was driving and I hit some water on the floor from a leaking roof. I went to turn the fork lift when I hit the water and the forklift wouldn't turn and it was going straight out for the dock doors so I went to jump off well when I jump off the forklift turned with me and smashed my foot into a Yellow cement pool and I had to have it amputated off it's been 4 years now and we still haven't settle for anything I was wondering about what I should settle for?
Do you have a lawyer representing you in this matter? If so, then this is a question the lawyer is best able to answer as the lawyer would know all the pertinent information regarding the case and best be able to advise you accordingly. If you do not have a lawyer, you should probably hire one as soon as possible. Feel free to contact me should you need more guidance or counsel. With regards,

The value of your case depends on a number of factors. The factors include but are not limited to: your weekly compensation rate, your future medical treatment, how often you need a replacement prosthetic, whether your case has been determined to be catastrophic. For instance, if your weekly compensation rate is $ 500 you would be entitled to Permanent Partial Disability payment of $ 67,500. This Permanent Partial Disability amount would need to be considered in determining the value of your case. If your likely future medical treatment is $ 200,000 then you would need to add this amount to your settlement calculations. Please note that the insurance company is not required to ever settle your case and it may be in your best interest not to settle. Also, from your description of the accident you may have a possible products liability case.
Whether it's a good time to settle, and how much your injury is worth, are questions that can only be answered after reviewing your case. You should set up an initial consultation with an experienced work injury attorney. It shouldn't cost you anything and you'll be able to get a much better answer than you can here. Do not rely on answers you get from the insurance company. I'm licensed in Illinois, but I can recommend a colleague in your area who should be able to help. If you'd like a referral, feel free to give me a call. 1-800-807-9530. Good luck.
I just had similar case. These issues become very complicated and depend upon a number of factors which I would be glad to discuss with you. If represented you I would hire a life care planner to help boost the value of any potential settlement. Call me at 678-362-1407 if you would like to discuss.

You can't make them settle with you; it's voluntary. In another 3.5 years, your weekly benefits will run out (sooner if you're on light duty). As has been echoed above, I'd talk to a Georgia attorney near you for specifics regarding value for your case and whether or not it's a good idea to try and settle the claim yet.
