I've been illegally locked out of my apartment last week

I do not practice in your area of the state. One question, did you bring a copy of the lease with you to the police or is that unfortunately locked in the apartment? I would continue to pursue the police for access to the apartment until you are able to deal with this in the courts. You should also go to the Landlord Tenant court and talk to them about your options in the event of an illegal lock out.
