Nonimmigrant visa number for I-485 form? On I-94?

On form I-485 there's a question asking for the nonimmigrant visa number. My husband switched employers and got his new I-94 Arrival/Departure Record that came with the I-797, but he did not get a new visa (he said that he has to go back to Malaysia to get a new visa, and it is too inconvenient to go back when he already has a valid status as H1B) . Can we use the I-94 number to fill out the I-485 form? Thanks in advance!

Hi, the questions pertains to the actual visa on your passport, not the I-94. Look at the sticker visa affixed to the passport. That is the number requested. Good Luck
