Following too closely with no accident; Chances of getting the points dropped and not having this go on my insurance record?
I was on my way to work and was behind a Georgia State Patrol officer. I proceeded to stay behind him for 3 miles while merging onto i16 and 516 West while still behind the officer maintaining a safe following distance. While on 516 West, I signal and move into the left lane preparing to continue onto Highway 21 and following my route. A car is in front of me in the left lane. The officer now moves into the left lane getting behind me. The car in front of me moves into the right lane. The officer then turns on his patrol car lights and pulls me over. He then questions me about my non-Chatham county tag and asks why I am out this early (7:08am). I explain I am on the way to work and do not permanently reside in the area. He goes to his patrol car then comes back with a citation for Following Too Closely with the description of the citation reading "Riding Bumper of Car after Passing Me Quickly". I was not riding the bumper of the other car and I did not pass him "quickly" which is pretty vague.
What are the chances if I go to court that I can get this dropped altogether or avoid getting points and having this cause my insurance to go up?
Thanks,
