Can my employer withhold my last paycheck and/or give it to the police and tell me to contact the police for my paycheck?

I worked at a market and was robbed.. I was using the restroom and someone came in and took all the money in my till. After watching the security camera with my boss he told me to return my key and leave and has not contacted me since. The police haven’t contacted me either. I was told that in order to get my last paycheck I need to contact the police? Can he do this? What do I do?

No. Oregon employers generally cannot hold paychecks hostage. Oregon frowns upon employers using "self-help" to recover their losses. You should contact an attorney.

Nope, not legal. And you are entitled to penalty wages now on top of whatever you were owed.
