What should my next step be because it started as just a harrassing coworker now it is also my manager

Business Questions 3 views 2 answers
I have worked for the company since last April. I have made numerous complaints regarding my coworker to my manager with no results. In December 2018, it got worse and now it includes my manager. My work environment is very hostile and intimidating. I went to HR and there is an investigation open. I took a FML leave due to the stress and anxiety I was under starting on the 20th of December and returned December 31st after talking to HR. Since, my return there has been issues at work every day. I feel like the issues are not being taken seriously and has caused a huge strain not only on my financial capabilities but on myself and my children as I am a single mom. I have documented everything. I also am not the only one that my hostile coworker has harrassed, there are numerous other employees and the company has allowed my coworker to continue to do this for years.

You should be discussing this directly with a lawyer. This way the lawyer can specifically advise what documentation would be helpful, evidence to prove, and help set the employer up to protect your rights.

I agree with my colleague. You should speak with an attorney. You may also want to file a complaint jointly with the Bureau of Labor and Industry and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for the conduct your employer is engaged in. Good documentation is important. I think you should see an employment attorney to discuss the details and get advice on how to proceed. All the best!
