My landlord won't fix the broken heater. Is this legal? What can I do? It's really cold!

It's in the 30s today, we are expecting sleet and freezing rain, and the heater stopped working yesterday. Called the landlord and he said he won't fix the heater. I'm pregnant and can't expect myself to work in this freezing store nor do I expect customers to shop when it's this cold indoors. I'm losing business!

I have not dealt with Landlord/Tenant issues for sometime, but look closely at your lease. Unless there is a provision that makes you responsible for maintenance (which is very possible in commercial leases), you can often have the heater fixed and deduct from the rent.
