Waiting to get the conditional status removed to permanent green card. Can I apply for citizenship next year?

My spouse became a US citizen in 2008 and we applied for my green card in 2009. This year we have to apply to remove the conditional status or 2 years and get the permanent visa. Would I be able to apply for citizenship in 2012 (3 years since first application), considering that it hasnt been more than 5 years that my spouse has been a US citizen?

Yes if you qualify, by 2012. Lots more information is needed. Your situation is too involved for an online answer. Using the written documentation you have is a good place to begin. Contact a local lawyer - many may give you a short free consultation - to discuss your specifics. Far too many variables exist in the short post you wrote for any further observation by me. Many attorneys have information posted here on . You need a lawyer. Check with a lawyer in your locale to discuss more of the details. Good luck to you. God bless. Best of luck to you. Yes, if you meet the other requirements, you should be able to apply for citizenship in 2012. In addition to the other requirements (physical and continuous presence etc...), you can apply for naturalization if: 1. You have had your greencard for 3 Years. 2. You were married during those 3 Years. 3. You are living as a genuine married couple. 4. Your spouse has been a U.S. Citizen for the entire 3 years.
