I got a DUI about 3 years ago in TX and never took care of it. I never went to court due to financial issues with the lawyer. Now that I'm older and would like to take care of this. I moved to PA and would like to take care of this. What are my next steps to do this? Do I have to turn myself in @ TX or can I get this taken care of in PA?
You are going to need good DUI attorney in the great state of Texas. They will be able to advise you best. The attorney may be able to handle the entire matter without your presence. However, talk with an experienced DUI attorney in Texas.
In California, I’ve been able to handle matters for clients who are out of state. However, certain courts in my jurisdiction require the defendant to be presence before they will hear a matter, when it is in bench warrant status. While, other courts in my jurisdiction let me walk-in recall and quash the warrant and handle the matter without any problem. That is why you need a skilled and experienced local DUI attorney.
Call the local bar association in Texas and ask for a referral. It sound like you had an attorney. Give them a try.
First step is to contact an attorney in Texas. That attorney should proceed, once retained, and attempt to negotiate a settlement to your favor in Tx. If such a settlement is reached you should complete all the required conditions such as an alcohol evaluation etc. The attorney can then note a motion in court and could appear, quash the warrant, enter a plea, be sentenced and fulfill any obligations to court.

Find another attorney in Texas who can help you. Make sure he consults with PA counsel because many DUI type convictions out of state will result in a one year license suspension in PA.
This response does not create an attorney / client relationship and should not be relied upon to make decisions in any case. It does not substitute for hiring your own attorney and consulting with him or her to provide in depth legal advice.
