Car Accident & NO doctor will see me - not even my primary care physician.
Anonymous2 views6 answers
I'm at a loss. I cannot get one doctor to cordinate my care - not one primary care doctor will see me because I was in accident. I even offered to pay them cash and deal with reimbursement myself. Can this be legal? I've got several issues going on and I need one doctor with all the records to make recommendations & write prescriptions. What can I do?

It may be a good idea to seek a skilled and experienced personal injury lawyer in your area. They will be able to assist you in obtaining good medical care, including a doctor who can take the "lead" and perhaps coordinate your care. The typical ways doctors are paid in injury scenarios is no fault insurance, health insurnance, liens, or direct pay (depending on the state laws).

If the accident was not your fault, a lawyer will take the case on a contingency fee basis and refer you to some good doctors.

This is happening more often than it use to because doctors don't want to get involved, and are worried about health insurance coming back after them. Try to get an attorney who can help you.
Assuming the other driver was at fault in the wreck, I strongly recommend you immediately retain a top plaintiff's firm in your area. The Levin Firm is an outstanding plaintiff's law firm in Pensacola. The type of doctor you need to see is known as a physiatrist, a medical rehabilitation specialist. They will usually have physical and massage therapy specialists on site who, in conjunction with the doctor, will establish a regimen to help you regain as much functionality as possible. Your PIP insurance covers most of their charges, coverage you are required to have under Florida law. Optional coverage, known as medical payments (medpay) coverage, can also cover your wreck-related medical bills. Good luck to you.
FInd a good personal injury attorney. He or she will refer you to drs who accept PIP benefits. Most "primary' care doctors do not want to handle auto cases because the insurance billing is somewhat more complicated , believe it or not; AND the reimbursement schedules for PIP cases keeps getting stingier.
That being said, there are plenty of competent docs who will treat you.
Good Luck,
