A foreclosure in New Jersey takes approximately 9-12 months from the time you are served with the summons until sale. Thereafter, if you do not vacate, the new owner (likely the lender) will have to start an eviction proceeding against you which can take an additional amount of time.
I don't know your situation, so I would consult with a local attorney, as you may have options, such as bankruptcy, a loan modification, or a forbearance. Good Luck.
In New Jersey, due to the mounting foreclosures and the backlog in processing them, along with the issues of certain bank filings, the process could take longer than one year. Up until the time, you have the right to request to go to foreclosure mediation. Attached is the website info for that program. http://www.nj.gov/foreclosuremediation
Good luck.
