Sometimes this just means that a supervisor needs to give the final approval on the petition. If you just had your interview, I would not be concerned at this point. If you do not hear anything for a month after your interview, you may want to follow up with the assistance of an attorney.

If you filed an I-485 (and I-130) type package with USCIS, then you would have gone to an adjustment of status interview to obtain lawful permanent residency and not for a change of status. More often than not, there are final background checks that need to be made by the adjustment officer such as obtaining an FBI clearance and record check for possible unreported criminal convictions. That may be the simple reason given for 'further review' in your case. This is standard operating procedure for USCIS with their adjustment applications. However, without more specific information as to possible issues that may be present in your particular case, it would difficult to provide further analysis. If there are no other issues (i.e., suspected marriage fraud for example), then generally your approval notice should arrive by mail within a few weeks of your interview date.

"Further review" could stem from any number of causes. The most likely is that your required background check was not completed prior to the date of your I-485 interview. In that kind of case the green card is mailed to you once the background check is completed. If there is a problem with your case, then either a Request for Evidence or a Notice of Intent to Deny will be issued. At that point you should immediately contact an experienced immigration lawyer for assistance.

This usually means your interviewer will create a report based on the I 485 interview and forward it to a supervisor who will review it further and certify a decision to either approve, deny or RFE (Request for evidence.) I would not worry about the statement. However, if at any time during the interview you were told to provide any additional documents to support your I 485 Application, you should do so immediately. If not, just wait to hear from them. Good luck!
