Deferred adjudication or deferred disposition for Class C misdemeanor Theft?
I messed up and am completely remorseful. Shoplifted less than $50, no police, no citation, no arrest, no fingerprints, no records on TXDPS or municiple court records.... just a court summons letter and a letter for restitution fees.
I'm taking action to remedy this issue and am trying to find the best option for my situation with a lawyer. Would a deferred adjudication or deferred disposition for Class C misdemeanor Theft be better/easier for an expunction? What's the difference between deferred adjudication and deferred disposition? It seems as though a deferred adjudication program involves fine, anti theft class, up to 160 day probation and community service. A deferred disposition program seems to involve a fine, anti theft class, up to 160 day probation and no community service.
