Are police required to enforce custody orders?

I have been told by Los Angeles and Ventura County police that police will not enforce child custody orders. Is this true? If so, what can I do to have these orders enforced?

While the police are technically "required" to enforce all laws, they also have lots of discretion as to which tasks they do, with what priority. At a time of shrinking police budgets, local police departments often limit their involvement in child custody matters to "keeping the peace". Without knowing the details of the order you want enforced, it's very difficult for an attorney to give you advice as to what other enforcement tools are available.
