Green Cards 1 views 2 answers
On 797 receipt as a preference category it is 203 A2A INA spouse of LPR. I think it should be F2A category. So what is 203 A2A...? Please help me. Thanks .

203 A2A refers to the section of the INA under which your preference category falls (INA 203(a)(2)(A)). If you are indeed the spouse of a greencard holder (and you say you are) this is the proper category. Depending on what country you are from you may be waiting from 3 to 5 years to get your permanent residence. The only way to speed up that process is for your wife to become a citizen if she is eligible. To determine whether that is a worthwhile option, you should speak with an attorney. This is general information and not legal advice. www.galindoimmigration.com

Category 2A refers to the Family Preference category and it means you have to wait for your priority date (or I-130 filing date) to become current. You can see the latest priority dates in the Department of State Bulletin. http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html Let me know if you need further assistance.
