"With prejudice" means the case cannot be re-filed. Sometimes cases are dismissed "without prejudice", meaning the case can be started all over again later.

If you are one of the parties and you do not know what "with prejudice" means, how can you be certain that you understand what the rest of the documents means? That is, are you sure that you are in a position to reach an informed decision on your case? If you are one of the parties, especially if you are the plaintiff, you should review your specific facts with your attorney to find out what your legal options are. The case being dismissed with prejudice means that you giving up whatever rights you may have regarding the case in regards to the parties named in the order. The text quoted in your post is usually in civil cases, often after the parties have reached some sort of settlement. While no party admits any fault on paper, there usually is some sort of payment of money.

It means dismissed FOREVER, and the plaintiff can't re-file the case. Dismissal "without prejudice," in contrast, means there's no prejudice (or barrier) to the plaintiff re-filing their case, assuming their claim is still within the applicable statute of limitations. \
