To have a legal document does it have to be dated?

I have a contract signed between me and a ex stating that he will pay me $300.00 a month to live here. Social Security said that it isn't a legal document because it was not dated when we wrote the agreement. they reduced his payment because he said he didn't pay rent for this period of time. It was only because he didn't have a income. and was going to pay me when he got his SSI

A contract will not necessarily be invalid because it is not dated. In your case, I believe the SSA may have used this as the reason to explain why your contract was not a legitimate rental agreement. First, since your contract was not dated they have no idea when it was supposed to start. Second, your husband never paid rent. Thus, he was not performing under the terms of the agreement. Third, his performance cannot be contingent on his SSI. In other words, you cannot base his obligation to pay rent on his social security income.
