Could I get a ticket for the vehicle registration sticker while I am waiting for it to arrive in the mail?

You can get a citation because the law requires you to display a current registration (and since yours is expired then it is not current.) Since you have already paid, print out your receipt and carry it with you in the event that you are stopped. An officer is not likely to ticket you with such evidence (and even if he did, then the case would be dismissed with payment of court costs upon proof to the court.) Future employers who require that you provide a driving record would not see the citation if it is dismissed with or without costs. If you got a conviction for it, they would be able to see it.

Technically, you could receive a citation for failure to properly display the registration on your vehicle. However, in reality, most police officers will not write one if they can confirm that you have in fact renewed the registration. If you do receive a ticket, take your registration to court to show that it was renewed prior to the ticket. It should be dismissed.

Technically maybe, however print out the confirmation that you should have gotten from the Internet. If you were stopped then proof of this might be sufficient.
