I was in a car accident it was my fault, We both agreed there was no significant damage. My insurance was cancelled at the time. No information was exchanged, the accident was at my uncles house he was a witness to it, and heard me when i offered help for any damages to his car. The guy refused to call insurance or police. I suspected he didn't have a license or insurance. So i said ok and left. The next day my uncle calls me saying his friend wants me to pay for the damages. The accident was on a Friday, and i am going to meet up with him on Monday, i am planning on paying my insurance the late payment Monday morning. I am making a police report and explain to the cop what happened, without letting him know i was temporarily uninsured at the time of the accident. Will my insurance pay?
If you did not have insurance they will not pay. Possible exception, if there was a lapse in coverage in the policy was reinstated retroactively and the date of the incident feel in the period. Contact your insurance broker.
What you didn't ask; the other driver would have to proof the case to collect money damages, should you decide not to pay. Good luck.

I don't think meeting with this guy is a good idea. Your insurance will not pay for this accident, regardless of whether you pay now. Meanwhile, this guy is unlikely to be able to get much or anything from you through a lawsuit, so I wouldn't pay him without consulting an attorney first.

First, will your insurance pay? No.
Second, should you pay for the damages? Maybe.
You stated that the accident was your fault - and you agreed to help with damages to the other vehicle. However, I recommend you speak with an attorney - for several reasons. Your attorney can: (1) assess the case to determine whether you were really at fault, (2) negotiate a settlement with the other driver, and (3) draft a settlement and release for the other driver to execute (this will prevent the other driver from suing you for any additional damages at a later date).

Sure he can sue you but the question is whether there are any damages he can prove.
If you had no insurance at the time, then I suggest you either dare him to sue you (ignore him) and call his bluff. If he does nothing and the time limitation runs, then you are fine.
Or, you can ask him what proof of damages he has and see if it is reasonable. You know the circumstances of the incident and whether you were at fault or not. And please get insurance ASAP. It is the law.
