You do not indicate what you may be applying for, or why the USCIS would be checking the employment history. This is important, since different applications have different levels of USCIS scrutiny to the employment history. In most applications for adjustment of status, I-9 forms are not routinely reviewed. In I-140 petitions, USCIS wants to see evidence of qualifying past employment, but again does not normally review I-9 forms. To review I-9 forms, the USCIS is supposed to provide an employer with 3 days notice. This does not always happen though in cases where USCIS suspects that an applicant has made a false claim to U.S. citizenship on an I-9 form. In these cases, a USCIS officer will sometimes call an employer and request the form, or ask the applicant to review it. This is a complicated area of immigration practice that warrants consulting with an experienced and knowledgeable immigration attorney.
