Would this fall under employment discrimination?

I had worked for a corporate company for over 5 years now. Throughout those 5 years I have always done above and beyond for my job even when pregnant with my son while being extremely sick. For the past 2 years I have done everything I can to get the company to work with me on my schedule so I can properly care for my son. In that time several other people have been hired with open availability but within 2 weeks were making their own schedules. Because of this I started looking for a new job that would work with me. Once a new job came along and I put in my 2 weeks I was fired on the spot. But yet the 2 newer employees who put in their 2 weeks notice are able to work out their notice. What should I do? I am the only one with a child under 2 years old and I will not have pay for almost a month because of this.

Based on the information you have provided, I'd say the answer is, "no." Generic "someone-else-was-treated-better-than-me" at work discrimination is not illegal in Alabama. Discrimination in the workplace becomes illegal when you can prove that you were being treated differently BECAUSE of your gender, race, age, disability, ethnicity, military service, FMLA, religion, or one of the federally protected categories. Favoritism is not a violation of the law. And a company does not have to let you work out a notice. Also, as you put in your notice even if you did have a claim the main value of your damages would be, at best, limited to two weeks' pay.
