How does a Landlord collect eviction judgement money awarded by the court?

Bankruptcy and Debt 3 views 3 answers
In WA state, after the judge awards the eviction and settlement amount to the landlord, and the tenant doesn't make payments, who does the landlord go about getting the money? Garnish wages? Where do I go, or what part of the court system do I contact?

With a judgment, state law defines the collection process. You can get a writ to attach the debtor's bank account, garnish wages, or attach any unprotected, nonexempt property. Getting a judgment can be easy compared to the more difficult process of collecting. You can look at state laws for more information & most states post their laws on the state webpage. Hope this perspective helps.

Go to the local Sheriff to assert the judgment after it is filed.
