. i read that if your your bond is exonerated the bailsbondsmen has no more responsibilty in your case, is that true.I've done all my court requirements already,i just need to pay some fees still, not any fines.the court says part of the fees go to the dmv, police department ,etc.My case started in may of 2010 and is still open. Can they revoke my bail if im unable to pay.i also read that they cant lock you up if you are unable pay ,is that true also.I also have a six month suspended sentence and was wondering how long does it stay in effect for.I dont want to go to jail over something so stupid as unable to pay since i have already tooken care of all my other classes, comm service, fines,in the first 3 month since my conviction in may 2010.also this is all for municipal court .

Hello there, A bond is “exonerated” when the defendant appears in court as scheduled. An exoneration of bond (discharge of the bail) is typically automatic upon adjudication of guilt or innocence by the court. This means that neither the people who supplied collateral or the Bail Bonds Company has any further financial obligation to the court in reference to the defendant’s case. Sincerely, Erick Platten

My advice is always to pay off court fees and fines as soon as you can - even if you have to borrow money from friends and/or family to do so. I've seen too many people forget and end up with a warrant which, at best is a hassle to get lifted. If you cannot pay the remaining fines in the time set by the Court, and have completed all of you other duties, then you should contact the Court and ask for an extension to pay. The Court would rather do that than have your case back on its calendar and you being penalized. The sentence will remain suspended until you complete all of the requirements of your plea bargain (or other settlement with the Court and prosecution). It should be released at that time. Hope this helps. /s Donald Kudler http://www.capandkudler.com
