SOMEONE GAVE ME FAKE MONEY AND I UNKNOWINGLY SPENT IT. I KNEW IT FELT WEIRD BUT THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT REALLY. I THEN HAD PAID SOMEONE WITH THE MONEY FOR SOME WORK THEY DID AND THEY REPORTED THE MONEY FAKE. THE SECRET SERVICE IS NOW INVOLVED AND HAVE QUESTIONED ME. I RECEIVED THE MONEY FROM SOMEONE OFF THE STREETS FOR SOME RIMS AND DON'T EVEN KNOW THERE NAME. CAN I GET IN TROUBLE?

Yes, you can be charged with a crime. Whether they can convict you, is another matter. I would hire a local criminal defense attorney immediately if you can afford one. Do NOT talk to the police or FBI or any other law enforcement without an attorney present. You cannot talk yourself out of this situation and you can only make it worse. They can and will lie to you and threaten to arrest you. Still, do not talk. Ask for an attorney immediately and say nothing more until they give you an attorney.

Have you been contacted by the Secret Service or other law enforcement agency? Do you have reason to believe that law enforcement is investigating the situation? If you think that there is an investigation, your best defense is a good offense. Hire a lawyer ASAP and get him working to explain that you did not know the money was fake. If the prosecutor or Assistant United States Attorney can be convinced that there was an innocent mistake, maybe you can avoid charges. I encourage you to use www.attorneyqna.com to find a 10.0 rated criminal defense lawyer. Most retained criminal defense attorneys will offer you a free telephone consultation. Feel free to consult with an attorney in any part of Michigan as it is not uncommon for criminal defense lawyers to travel throughout the state. Mr. Loren Dickstein, Esq.
