My (Austrian) son, 40, is married to a US-women, my grandchildren have double citizenship. My husband and me, financially very independant, consider moving to the Bay area to be closer to the family. We are Austrian/German. Which are the legal steps to take? (My husband is n o t the father of my son, and not the grandfather of the kids, either...)

You may want to review your facts with an attorney. There are many bases for a person to immigrate to the US. Besides the family relationships, you and your husband may qualify on some other bases, especially if either of you are very wealthy, highly educated, or has special skills. If so as "immediate family" he may consider a petition for his parents to follow and join him as lawful permanent residents. I handle family unification issues as a family lawyer, I include immigration as part of my family practice. My telephone is 1-760-328-5073 or email [email protected] Otherwise, the case for grandparents is not strong as compared to parents, spouse and siblings. There are other basis for immigration in addition to family based petitions. More 1 found this answer helpful found this helpful | 0 lawyers agree Undo Vote Helpful Undo Unhelpful Undo 0 comments
